bio
Luz María González is an immigrant woman artist from a rural village in Jalisco, México. At a very young age, she showed interest in the arts. During her teen years, she co-managed and was the protagonist of various art shows and performances. Since her early years, she has exposed her work at Southern Jalisco and, as she continues to adapt to a new culture as an immigrant in California, United States, she strives to share her artwork and knowledge with the rest of the world. Her art practice includes traditional crafts she learned from her family and local artists: embroidery, sewing, painting, performance, repujado, and much more. She obtains her
inspiration from the colonial and rural Mexico she experienced and the community that shared their craft with her.
