bio
Ambar Navarro is a Mexican-American filmmaker and artist based in Los Angeles. She works in photography and film creating fantasy worlds playing with scale and finds inspiration in old horror films, experimental animations, and music videos from the 90’s
and early 2000’s. Born and raised in San Antonio Texas, she grew up taking the city bus to her local punk shows finding the importance of a community at an early age. Eventually moving to California and earning a B.F.A. From the California Institute of the
Arts Experimental Animation program, her work has been featured online and print publications such as Rolling Stone, The Fader, and NPR, as well as 65+ art galleries including the new Tate Modern and solo shows nationally and internationally. Currently
she can be found in her art studio in Boyle Heights creating videos and taking portraits of musicians.
